More than 36 million people died each year due to non-communicable disease and this number comprises 63% of all deaths.

Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death among the non-communicable diseases globally. According to the World Health Organization, cardiovascular disease is a group of diseases caused by an alteration of heart and blood vessels functions. In 2008, approximately 17.3 million deaths were caused by cardiovascular disease and more than 3 million deaths occurred in individuals aged less than 60 years old.

To achieve the Department’s and Program’s vision to be a world-class Cardiovascular Training Center,

 which able to compete globally, Department of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Universittas Padjadjaran collaborates with several well-known institution, such as Radboud University, Neijmegen, Netherland, and University of Utah, United States of America. It is our solemn aspiration to be able to graduate high quality cardiologist who can compete globally. Further, we are striving to facilitate and motivate our staffs to innovate and contribute to the advancement in cardiovascular science, both in national and international level, and improve the quality of cardiovascular care in Indonesia, particularly in West Java.

Cardiology and Vascular Medicine Study Program of Universitas Padjadjaran entitled as “UNGGUL” by LAM-PTKes in 2021. It is our achievement and a result of our commitment to be a world-class Cardiovascular Training Center.

Vision

Our vision is to become an excellent, world-class Cardiology and Vascular Medicine Training Centre which able to compete in global society in 2024.

Mission

  • Improving educational programs in Cardiology and Vascular Medicine Residency training to be able to compete globally
  • Improving international quality research
  • Improving community service activities (especially in West Java and Indonesia as a whole)
  • Producing quality graduates who are able to contribute in reducing morbidity and mortality caused by cardiovascular diseases and those who are able to compete globally.
  • Fostering motivation and innovation as well as commitment among teaching staffs to strive for achievement and excellence in all national and international level competition.

Goals

General Goals

To produce cardiologists who are capable to provide competitive cardiovascular services at international level.

Spesific Goals

  • To obtain an extensive knowledge in the cardiovascular field and have sufficient skills to deal with problems of heart and vascular diseases for extensive variety of patients in community, from infant to elderly patients
  • To be responsible and to be able to apply their knowledge in the cardiovascular medicine
  • To be able to implement and develop cardiovascular services in their community (especially in West Java, and Indonesia in general)
  • To be capable for developing one’s knowledge and skills as a cardiologist, achieving higher academic level according to the updates in sciences and community’s demands.
  • To be able to plan and implement independent education and research programs to improve cardiovascular problems managements
  • To be able to cooperate with colleagues and uphold ethics and applicable norms.

The Cardiovascular Residency Program, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran has facilities for the educational process consists of an integrated building used as lecture room, practice room, staff room, student activity room, and other supporting rooms. The infrastructure used in this process consists of the diagnostic and cardiac center building at RSUP Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung consists of several rooms including:
