Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery is one of the many branches of medicine, which originate from the Greek’s word “Plastikos”,
meaning to mold or to shape. Plastic surgery covers reconstructive (craniomaxillofacial, burn injury, wound, microsurgery and oncoplasty, hang surgery, external genital) and aesthetic aspects.
In 2001, there were 262 plastic surgeons throughout in Indonesia,
who were registered in Indonesia Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon Association (PERAPI), which 16 of them serving in West Java Province. There are currently 257.900.000 people living in Indonesia, which 44.648.000 are living in West Java. Ideal ratio of people living around the region with the plastic surgeon is 1:1.000.000, which resulted in shortage of plastic reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon working in Indonesia, especially in West Java.

Becoming a high-quality education program to support the vision of Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University, to become one of the centres of medicine included in the world’s top 500 rankings by 2024.
Mission
- Organizing the education of plastic surgeon in accordance with the education standards of specialist doctor set by the Collegium of Indonesian Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon
- Organizing an organizational system and institutional management that leads to independence in accordance with the principles of good civil service governance
- Organizing various activities for the maintenance and development of the competence of the institution's lecturers in terms of learning and teaching, as well as professionalism in their respective fields
- Creating a harmonious, conducive, and comfortable academic atmosphere for teaching and learning processes, development of research and education in plastic surgery that is integrated and published internationally to support the nation's competitiveness, and excellent plastic surgery services, so as to be able to support the development of personal attitudes graduates who are able to learn independently and throughout their lives, and carry out good reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery practices in accordance with scientific and professional ethics for the benefit of the society.

Goals
Educate and deliver Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons with excellent competency based on curriculum, good etiquette, and able to develop a sustainable knowledge and professionalism independently, thus giving comprehensive services as a world-class plastic surgeon.
General Objectives
- Increase the quality of every educational aspect in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Program, Faculty of Medicine Padjadjaran University
- Produce more competent and professional surgeon with good etiquette, also with good leadership and clinical judgment
- Effective and efficient management of good education program
- Increase research-based health services caregiver in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
- Increase the amount of researches publication both nationally and internationally
- Increase the amount of technology-based and community welfare-based researches

Program penelitian untuk mahasiswa (residen)
Residen diwajibkan untuk menulis 5 buah paper selama masa pendidikan yang akan dipresentasikan di forum nasional atau internasional dan satu karya tulis akhir yang diujikan dan dipresentasikan di forum nasional atau internasional.
Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat untuk mahasiswa (residen)
Residen harus mengikuti kegiatan bakti sosial sebanyak minimal 5 kali selama masa pendidikan dan mengerjakan operasi minimal 5 labioplasty dan 3 palatoplasty secara mandiri.

Universitas Padjadjaran is one of the state universities with A accreditation, with the Faculty of Medicine which is still one of the favorite majors in Indonesia.
The Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Residency Program has excellent faculties, experts in their respective sub-specialties, with learning facilities at the general hospital as the highest referral center of West Java province. The number of cases is always high with a variety from simple to complex, providing a high learning opportunity, especially cases of burns, cleft lip and palate, trauma, and microsurgery. To enrich the case variations, there has also been collaboration for residents to be stationed at Soetomo Hospital in Surabaya and Zainoel Abidin Hospital in Aceh. Graduates from this study program have had good careers in the capital and local districts.
